The first international hackathon ‘Urban.Tech Moscow in Riga’, which was also the first event in a series of events, has been held in Riga, at Pullman Riga Old Town. The selection stages of ‘Urban.Tech Moscow’ took place in several countries, including Latvia.
A total of 130 applications were submitted to the hackathon in Riga, of which 16 teams were formed and 83 participants from nine countries – Latvia, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Armenia, India, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Israel – competed for the final prize. The event featured startup coders, ecosystem enthusiasts, analysts, IT professionals, design and marketing executives, as well as business management professionals and entrepreneurs aged 18-61.
The theme of ‘Urban.Tech Moscow in Riga’ was urban technology. Three teams were determined as the winners:
Developing a Comprehensive Solution for Detecting Intermediate Cyber Security Threats – The SecChain Team
Searching for Vulnerabilities in the Financial Sector – Team ‘SEQ.SCIENCE’
Street Sanitation Expense Optimization – Team 6
The winning teams received a fully paid trip to Moscow to visit major businesses and municipal platforms, get acquainted with the city’s startups, and participate in the final of the Urban.Tech Moscow tour on December 2nd, 2019.
The Riga Hackathon is one of a series of global events taking place in the Czech Republic, Israel, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Winning teams from all six countries will compete in the final of ‘Urban.Tech Moscow’ for a prize fund of €140,000 and a chance to launch their project on the global market.
